A transpersonal integration of the whole person through the meridian and chakra energy systems
by RAHEEM, AMINAH, Ph.D., INSTITUTE OF TRANSPERSONAL PSYCHOLOGY, 1984, 387 pages; DP14238

Abstract:

This theoretical dissertation explicates a transpersonal model of wholeness within the realms of body, mind, emotions and soul, as they are integrated through the matrix of the body energy systems of meridians and chakras. The hypothesis that energy is the primal medium which interpenetrates and unifies all the realms of wholeness is put forward.

The need for a transpersonal model of wholeness is explained. The author, who combines energy work in the body with transpersonal psychotherapy, formulated the model over a period of seven years while working with 200 clients and 300 students. Case studies and student responses are cited.

Each of the realms of wholeness---soul, body, emotions and mind---is explicated in separate chapters in reference to the energy systems of the meridians and chakras. The energy systems are explained in the context of their traditional associations; the meridians of Chinese medicine and the chakras of the Indian yogic tradition. The two systems are combined as they relate to each other.

The dissertation is summarized and implications for transpersonal psychotherapy are drawn.
