This study examines the problem of project success in American e-business projects. Research on e-business projects has been largely overlooked in favor of more generalized investigations of IT projects as a bigger whole. This study reviews eight key standard project management practices and how they correlate to the success of e-business projects. The research is based on a previously-developed questionnaire created by Verner and Evanco in 2005 called “In-House Software Development: What Project Management Practices Lead to Success?” This study provided further empirical evidence on the use of standard project management practices and their relationship to project success in e-business projects. The study determined that there was a statistically significant relationship between the presence of the experienced project manager, management support of the development team, clear requirements, good change and requirements management, good cost and effort estimation, estimate accuracy, and risk assessment. The results of this research was consistent with the study released by Verner and Evanco in 2005. Lastly, the results indicated that postmortem reviews have no statistical relationship with project success.
