End-users who take part in an enterprise system (ES) implementation for such systems as enterprise asset management (EAM) systems may encounter challenges due to obligatory changes in work processes. The research conducted utilized a qualitative methodology and explored EAM implementers’ perceptions of end-user rejection or acceptance behavior, taking into account end-users’ existing capabilities as a factor. The United Theory of Acceptance and the Use of the Technology (UTAUT) defines capability factors as the degree to which end-users rely on their own talents, knowledge, and comprehension in order to perform their jobs during the implementation process (Venkatesh et al., 2003). This research also explored implementers’ abilities to understand and manage end-users’ behavioral outcomes. The study sought to gather valuable input from the implementers’ points of view for companies to use toward the ultimate goal of ensuring ES implementation success. Likewise, the study examined challenges presented to end-users due to the mandatory and radical changes that occur during ES implementation and whether those challenges lead to end-user distress. Thus, this research aids in the development of more effective management methods to address the challenges presented during ES implementation to increase the likelihood of success and end-user acceptance.
