Information security affects nearly every job in some form or another. Sometimes information security is in the form of passwords or biometric security systems but in every case, information security takes time, and that means lost productivity. This dissertation research compared remote workers with regular office workers by asking how each group perceived the affect that their employer's information security measures had on their productivity. The literature is full of examples explaining that good security will affect a workers productivity but there is very little to indicate exactly how much impact information security will have on productivity (Aboelmaged & Subbaugh, 2012; Luzwick, 2001; Niekerk & Solms, 2010). This dissertation research found that there was very little if any loss of productivity due to information security measures, however the dissertation research results were inconclusive because of the chosen sample method and population. The low sample and the inconclusive results, indicate that future researchers will want to avoid the use of river sampling in conjunction with LinkedIn groups. The dissertation research also indicated potential for further study in the areas of the ages and education levels of remote workers.
