The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the theories of Action Identification (AIT) and Style of Processing (SOP). The sample was comprised of working adults in the U.S. manufacturing industry. Selection criteria were provided to the online sample panel company SurveyMonkey. Based on these criteria, SurveyMonkey selected the sample and facilitated the administration of two survey instruments. The survey instruments used were the Behavior Identification Form (BIF) and the Style of Processing scale (SOP). The BIF was designed to measure an individual's action identification tendencies. The SOP measures how a person tends to mentally process information they receive. The research question was, "What is the relationship, if any, between an individual's action identification and his style of processing information?" Pearson correlation coefficients were calculated to test for the existence of a relationship and its strength. The Pearson correlation did yield evidence of a significant relationship between individual action identifications and style of processing. T-tests were also conducted to see if this relationship was affected by the individual employee's level of responsibility within the company. The t-tests did not reveal evidence that an employee's level of responsibility had a significant effect on either their action identifications or their style of processing.
