Meeting the needs of undergraduate veterans: A study of institutional preparedness among postsecondary institutions in Texas

Abstract:

In this quantitative study the researcher used non-experimental survey research methodology to identify current programs and practices employed by Texas public and private institutions of higher learning in assisting veteran transition and persistence. Respondents in this study were employed at institutions recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board or were identified as Texas Veterans Certifying Officials by the Texas Association of Collegiate Veteran's Program Officials. Findings from this study indicated that, while many Texas institutions of higher learning had programs and practices designed to assist veteran transition and persistence, more needs to be done to help this unique and deserving student population achieve their educational goals.
