A comparative analysis of Jesuit secondary school curriculum and constructivist methodology

Abstract:

This dissertation is a content analysis involving constructivist methodology and the methodology of the Society of Jesus for secondary schools in the United States. The introduction traces the organization and participation of the Jesuits in secondary schools. It traces the form that Ignatius Loyola desired to implement, Modus Parisiensis, in the future schools. After stating the Jesuit sources and methods, the constructivist positions are put forth and an analysis of the two methodologies are given. As a summation, a request is made for further research into the possibilities of applying the Jesuit system to other Catholic secondary schools in the United States.
