Community college students' perceived effects of the home environment on academic success: A theory unveiled

Abstract:

In this study, the researcher unveils a generalized theory that holistically explains the root of the phenomenon which is the increasing dropout rate of community college students. Such information can be added to basic psychological research to help develop solutions that can be tested as applied psychological research. To create a theory that holistically explains the problem, the researcher studied the one element of support that has been neglected—the perceived effect of the home environment. In an effort to reveal more complete answers to the problem of rising dropout rates at the community colleges, the researcher used grounded theory to explore the primary question: How do community college students experience the perceived impact of their home environment on academic success? As a result, the researcher revealed data and composed a theory that will possibly add to the solutions that ensures academic success.
