Transform lives with strength and courage: A group psychotherapy program for women who are homeless with a history of child sexual abuse
by Vierthaler, Juli, Psy.D., THE CHICAGO SCHOOL OF PROFESSIONAL PSYCHOLOGY, 2010, 136 pages; 3411585

Abstract:

The following project is a group psychotherapy program development for women with a history of childhood sexual abuse that are at risk for homelessness. The development was guided by a thorough review of the literature and a needs assessment that was conducted at Sarah's Circle, a center for women who are homeless in Chicago, Illinois. The needs assessment and subsequent group program were guided by feminist, existential, and multi-cultural theories. The 8-session program, detailed in the manual, works to empower women, decrease trauma related symptoms, and increase basic functioning through psychoeducation and connection with other women. Limitations of the present project and ideas for future implementation and research are included.
