A spectrum of change: Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in middle school
by Kesselring, Mollie Smoke, Ph.D., CAPELLA UNIVERSITY, 2009, 81 pages; 3372735

Abstract:

The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 has brought a spotlight on teacher qualifications and educational placements for students with disabilities, while the number of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is on the rise. General education teachers need to be prepared to work with this unique population. Discovering what factors contribute to students with autism functioning successfully with passing grades and appropriate behaviors in an inclusive middle school classroom is imperative.
