Mentoring partnerships in organizations help minority women advance into senior leadership positions. In an effort to promote diversity, healthcare organizations are attempting to improve diversity representation in senior leadership roles. Despite such efforts, initiating mentoring programs has been problematic. Part of the problem includes not knowing how to run a successful program and getting senior leadership to act as mentors. Discovering and learning to overcome the underlying causes of resistance and eliminating organizational barriers to mentoring programs is important in understanding if such problems are hindering minority women's paths to senior leadership positions. The results of this mixed methods research case study will provide insight on how to initiate a successful mentoring program that will help advance minority females into senior leadership positions in a healthcare organization.
