Comparing likelihood of recruitment to university among concurrent enrollment students taking classes distance-delivered and face-to-face

Abstract:

The goal of this study was to determine whether the delivery method for concurrent enrollment (CE) classes affected students’ intention to attend a college or university and, in particular, the Utah State University (USU) undergraduate program. A sample of 360 high school students in the USU CEP during spring of 2007 was surveyed. Analysis compared students taking CE classes face to face (n = 153) and those taking televised CE classes (n = 207). Students in these two groups did not differ significantly in their intention to enroll in a postsecondary institution, however the groups differed significantly (23%) in their intention to attend USU. The study concluded that televised CE classes were less effective for recruitment.
