Women's spiritual role models: A transpersonal mixed-methods study on the impact of role models on women's self-esteem
by Kettle, Deborah D., Ph.D., INSTITUTE OF TRANSPERSONAL PSYCHOLOGY, 2008, 183 pages; 3340209

Abstract:

The purpose of this mixed-methods study is to understand the impact of role models on women's spiritual development and self-esteem. The central focus of this study is at the nexus of humanistic and transpersonal understandings of women's self-esteem—how that is impacted by women's spiritual development and how significant role models are to this process—given that women's ways of understanding self and the divine are through relationship. Thus, this study incorporates several phenomena of interest from women's self-esteem, women's spiritual development, and women's role models. In looking at the interface between these, we find the richer meaning of how women experience relationship with the divine.
