Preventing college and university violence: A decision-maker's guide to implementing best practices
by Hughes, Meredith A., Psy.D., ALLIANT INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY, SAN DIEGO, 2009, 223 pages; 3335149

Abstract:

Research indicates that incidents of college and university violence can be associated with lasting negative effects for all members of a campus community. The aftermath of such incidents may have overwhelming, long-term consequences for those involved, so the need for preventative measures related to violence in the college and university settings is great. Every incident of campus violence may not be preventable, however, research suggests that proper implementation and execution of an effective campus violence prevention plan significantly lowers the incidents of, and potential for, violence. The purpose of this dissertation is to write a book that explores the details associated with prior incidents of college and university violence, and presents a comprehensive preventative plan that aims to diminish or eliminate various types of campus violence.
