College students' perceptions of effective teaching personality traits: A quantitative analysis of traditional versus online education

Abstract:

The objective of this study was to (a) investigate the personality traits that students associated with effective teachers in traditional and online educational settings (b) to better understand the relationship of these factors between traditional and online educational settings. In a descriptive correlation study, a sample population, N=51, completed surveys categorically ranking personality traits he or she associated with effective teachers. Data was analyzed via Spearman correlations and chi-square. Results of Spearman correlations demonstrated that there is a significant linear relationship between the personality traits associated with effective teachers in both educational settings. Chi-square analysis further demonstrated that there was similarity between educational settings.
