Rural school counseling programs: A descriptive study of the implementation of the personal social domain in the National School Counseling Model

Abstract:

A priority for the state of Arizona's school counseling association (Arizona School Counseling Association, AzSCA) is for all Arizona public schools to implement the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National School Counseling Model. Rural Arizona School Counselors are attempting to comply with this directive. This descriptive research ascertained the perceptions of small town School Counselors, in rural Arizona, to determine if School Counselors perceive they have implemented the third domain (personal/social) of the ASCA National Model; if rural school counselors perceive they had the resources to implement the third domain of the National Model; and if rural School Counselors perceive they had the training to maintain the third domain of the National Model once it is implemented in their schools.
