by Baldwin, Kelly M., Psy.D., REGENT UNIVERSITY, 2007, 101 pages; 3271460

Abstract:

This project explores the issues relating to the treatment of sexually violent predators and provides a framework for future treatment programs. A comprehensive review of the literature pertaining to prevalence, pertinent history, legal implications, and identification of sex offender characteristics, etiological factors and treatment of sex offenders is presented. Specific focus will be directed toward the roles of clinical and actuarial risk assessments. This synthesis of literature is concluded with a discussion of the pertinent factors for the future development of specific treatment programs for sex offenders.
