L.V. P.A.C.E.: Left ventricular piezoelectric apparatus for cardiorhythmic enhancement
by Ramadas, Sumati, PhD, UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, LOS ANGELES, 2005, 0 pages; 3181717

Abstract: We have created a device, LV P.A.C.E. (Left-Ventricular Piezoelectric Apparatus for Cardiorhythmic Enhancement), which uses the motion of the heart as its power source. Located on the epicardial surface of the left ventricle, PACE, a VDD pacemaker, will enable location-specific stimulation, thus mimicking the contraction signal of the normal heart. PACE can generate its own power, possible by the use of a piezoelectric polymer, which is extremely flexible, durable, and reliable. Arrays of nanoelectrodes have been integrated into the device to allow for precise control of cardiac stimulation. The electronics for PACE are small, and is integrated into the device.

About ProQuest Dissertations & Theses
With over 2.3 million records, the ProQuest Dissertations & Theses (PQDT) database is the most comprehensive collection of dissertations and theses in the world. It is the database of record for graduate research.

The database includes citations of graduate works ranging from the first U.S. dissertation, accepted in 1861, to those accepted as recently as last semester. Of the 2.3 million graduate works included in the database, ProQuest offers more than 1.9 million in full text formats. Of those, over 860,000 are available in PDF format. More than 60,000 dissertations and theses are added to the database each year.
