The Vendor's Role: Assisting Customers with Change Management
by Bartels, Kathleen M., M.A., THE COLLEGE OF ST. SCHOLASTICA, 2011, 40 pages; 1493579

Abstract:

Change is a necessary occurrence in business; however it is typically met with resistance. The notion that change causes resistance is not a new theory. Change affects a business and its employees in many different ways. Resistance can derail the success of a change project completely. Change management best practices are used to reduce resistance to change. Companies typically have a change management program in place internally; therefore, vendors have usually not played a role in assisting the company with change management. Vendors have implemented many systems at many different companies; therefore, they are the change experts. Although they have the change management expertise, they lack knowledge of the organization that is an important piece of a change management plan. The model developed closes this knowledge gap and assists the vendor in getting to know the organization and the level of change management assistance they may require. The result is to provide the organization with a change management implementation plan tailored to the organization. The goal of the model is to create a seamless implementation for the customer by reducing resistance.
