To melt the cold within him: An exploration into the playing of Ebenezer Scrooge
by Johnson, Drew, M.F.A., UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS, 2011, 41 pages; 1493290

Abstract:

This thesis contains an exploration of the creation of the role of Ebenezer Scrooge in Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol adapted by D.W. Jacobs. The rehearsal period for this production began on October 11, 2010 with the performances running from December 2, 2010 through December 4, 2010 at the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. This production was directed by Amy Herzberg and was produced by the University of Arkansas Department of Drama in conjunction with the Walton Arts Center. The body of this thesis is composed entirely of Journal Entries, which document the process of this production from audition to final curtain. This is accomplished through the recollection and description of the work done both prior to and during rehearsal.
