by Sullivan, Erin, M.A., STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK EMPIRE STATE COLLEGE, 2011, 33 pages; 1488091

Abstract:

This is a reflective paper that describes the process that was gone through to create the booklet Dancing for Deeper Learning: A Resource for Dance Educators which is a booklet that advocates for dance education in public schools and provides dance educators with methods to reinforce learning skills through dance. An account of the step by step process of creating such a resource is outlined from beginning questions and concerns, to assessing the needs of teachers, then lastly to the creation of the final product. Insight is provided into why dance is an important art form for students to experience and connections are made between dance education and cognitive learning.
