An alternate approach to the conditional analysis of dispositions
by Cash, Cody, M.A., UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS, 2010, 61 pages; 1485888

Abstract:

The conditional analysis of dispositions has gone through several versions, all of which have been proven vulnerable to seemingly fatal counterexamples. In light of this, some have suggested the conditional analysis is hopelessly flawed and should be abandoned altogether. In this paper, I argue that the conditional analysis can be saved if the disposition is considered an extrinsic property that manifests only in paradigm situations. Along this alternate approach, an analysis can be crafted wherein the truth conditions are no longer susceptible to the counterexamples that have troubled previous efforts.
