The performance of Jewish Orthodox American children's cognitive abilities based on the Dynamic Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment for Children (DOTCA-Ch): A pilot study
by Cohen, Shashana, M.S., TOURO COLLEGE, 2005, 57 pages; 1478411

Abstract:

This study measured the performance of the American children on the DOTCA-Ch compared to the Israeli children. The DOTCA-Ch is designed to assess the cognitive performance of children ages 6–12. The DOTCA-Ch was created and standardized in Israel for children with TBI, LD and normal children. The DOTCA-Ch is not yet standardized in the U.S.A. This study will evaluate a normative sample of American children.

The participants consisted of 12 typical American Orthodox Jewish girls between the ages of 7–8. The Americans performed similar to the Israelis on all five subtests. The results from the Pearson Coorelation test, show that the mediation for three sections on the DOTCA-Ch resulted in better performance for the American children.

The findings support the hypothesis that the American children will perform similar to the Israeli children.
