This paper focuses on the claim that White Supremacist doctrine has influenced American social policymaking especially in the area of welfare. The racist ideologies of the Eugenics movement are examined, as well as their continued affects on present day social policymaking. The Eugenics movement was so popular in the early 1900s that it caused unexpected consequences. One such consequence was the Black movement known as the Nation of Islam and its mythical ideology, which reversed White Supremacy to form a Black Supremacist movement which is still alive and well today. In addition, the Freedmen's Bureaus are examined to show why this early attempt at providing welfare on a large scale failed the freed slaves. In addition, the role of the media's affect on social policy is examined in order to show its role in perpetuating the Further, by conducting a literature review I have been able to present a coherent argument that challenges the White Supremacist views that Black people are lazy and unwilling to take care of themselves. Moreover, I argue that the election of President Barack Obama will have long term positive effects on social policy making in America.
