Latina mothers living with HIV: A grant writing project
by Wong, Stacy, M.S.W., CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, LONG BEACH, 2009, 48 pages; 1472390

Abstract:

The purpose of this project was to develop a grant proposal, and design a culturally sensitive program to provide an intervention for HIV-seropostive Latina mothers living with HIV and their children. The goal of the culturally sensitive program was to provide supportive services to Latino mothers living with HIV/AIDS enrolled in the Nuestra's Familias program. The program aims to increase the participant's knowledge and awareness of their own risk factors and behavior. Additionally, the program aims to decrease isolation, increase social support, and foster positive supportive relationships of its participants, and to increase coping and acceptance of their HIV/AIDS diagnosis. Actual submission and/or funding of this proposal were not a requirement for the successful completion of the project.
