A reproductive health program for the Latino adolescent community: A grant proposal
by Contreras, Alicia Garcia, M.S.W., CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, LONG BEACH, 2009, 57 pages; 1472312

Abstract:

The intention of this project was to design a program that addresses the reproductive health of Latino adolescents, specifically at one Southern California High School. The process included designing a program, identifying an optimal funding source, and writing a grant to fund a program that utilizes a comprehensive approach to sexuality education. An extensive literature review was completed, which provided valuable knowledge on the dynamics related to teenage pregnancy. Essential information on how youth learn about sex through parents and school-based sex education programs was obtained. A grant database and Internet search for potential funding sources was utilized. This search resulted in the selection of The California Wellness Foundation as the optimal funding source for the proposed program. A grant was then written to support a community based reproductive health program for Latino adolescents.
