Abstract:

The focus of this paper is to define and qualify the collaboration between Freddie Hubbard and Creed Taylor that led to a high level of notoriety and recognition in their careers through the recordings that were created by CTI Records from 1970-1975. It contains detailed information about the Freddie Hubbard albums recorded by CTI Records including Red Clay, First Light, Straight Life, and Skydive. It also includes detailed biographical information of both Hubbard and Taylor before and after these recordings were made in order to describe the circumstances that surrounded this unparalleled collaboration.
