by Pressley, Andrew W., M.M.C.M., NEW ORLEANS BAPTIST THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY, 2009, 100 pages; 1472224

Abstract:

This document contains a collection of musical compositions and arrangements accompanied by analytical documents which address issues of compositional technique, textual sources, and the personal creative process. The pieces exhibit a broad range of style and include instrumental, choral, and congregational compositions. The instrumental pieces are "Piano Sonatina" (piano) and Three Hearts Consider the Dichotomy of Fate and Will (string quartet). The choral works include "How Sad Our State by Nature Is" (choir with organ accompaniment) and "Man of Sorrows" (choir with piano accompaniment). The congregational psalm settings are "Psalm 134 (Come Bless the Lord)," "Psalm 93 (Your Decrees Are Very Trustworthy)," and "Psalm 124 (If It Had Not Been the Lord)," each for contemporary band. The final hymn setting is "I Come to Thee" (tenor solo with guitar and violin accompaniment).
