Transient nature: An exhibition of ceramic and digital artwork
by Hudgins, Laura Robertson, M.F.A., STEPHEN F. AUSTIN STATE UNIVERSITY, 2008, 26 pages; 1458373

Abstract:

This thesis addresses the transient nature of human existence and the search for beauty within life. The quotidian aspect of the work gives me a constant source of subject matter accessible to a wide audience. I focus on the mundane and seemingly insignificant aspects of life typically overlooked as sources of beauty within life. This alludes to the conformity of ideas about beauty and value within American society. Flux is a critical aspect of the work. This state of transformation represents the life cycle and changes within our culture. Work for this exhibition was composed primarily of ceramic materials in a variety of states - liquid, powdered, fired and unfired.
