Investigation of new methods for intersymbol interference reduction in wireless channels with Gaussian noise

Abstract:

This thesis proposes a new method for developing code-words for reducing intersymbol interference (ISI) under Gaussian noise. This method enables a new code to transmit a certain number of data bits per word by using a certain number of signals. To reduce the effect of ISI, a series of bits (bit words) containing values of {-1, +1} is mapped to a series of pulses (pulse series) with certain coefficients of {-1, 0, +1} in which the hazard pulses are neglected. The performance of this new code proves to be superior in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) when compared to the Trellis Code Modulation (TCM) transmitter for the Very High Speed Digital Subscriber Line 2 Plus (VDSL2Plus) standard.
