The inner game of acting
by Railey, Raven J., M.F.A., UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE, 2007, 83 pages; 1451986

Abstract:

In fulfillment of the thesis project requirement for the Master of Fine Arts Degree at the University of Louisville, I portrayed the roles of Josephine Strong and the Female Cop in Urinetown: The Musical, by Greg Kotis and Mark Hollman. The production was directed by guest director Jim Hesselman.

This document explores an approach to acting that emphasizes an instinctual and subconsciously driven approach to acting over an inhibiting intellectual approach. It will examine how a critical, intellectually driven approach can lead to inhibition onstage and in auditions. It will also explore both mental and physical tactics that can lead to improved performance in these arenas.
