DuoTracker: Tool support for software defect data collection and analysis
by Akinwale, Olusegun, M.S., UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA, RENO, 2007, 70 pages; 1447633

Abstract:

In today software industry defect tracking tools either help to improve an organization's software development process or an individual's software development process. Currently, there is a lack of tracking tools that help both processes. In this thesis we present DuoTracker, a tool that supports tracking and analyzing software defects for the organizational and individual software process decision making.

To accomplish this, DuoTracker includes capabilities to classify defects in a manner that helps analysis at both organizational and individual software process levels. The benefit of this approach is that software engineers are able to see how their personal software process improvements impact their organization's process and vice versa. This thesis shows why software engineers need to keep track of their program defects, how this is currently done, and how DuoTracker proposes a new solution of keeping track of software errors. Details of the tool's software model and prototype implementation are presented in the thesis, together with a set of promising directions of future work.
